National and International Scholarships

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is committed to providing information, advice, and assistance to all currently enrolled undergraduates and recent graduates who are interested in applying for prestigious external scholarships and awards—you do not need to be an honors student to apply for these scholarships.

 

Scholarship Opportunities

Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowship

Application Deadline: December 3, 2008

Three major Fellowships will be awarded, one of approximately $20,000 in any field of music; one of approximately $20,000 in instrumental or vocal music, architectural design and history, art and design, theatre, or dance; and one of approximately $9,000 in art, architecture, dance, landscape architecture, theatre, or urban and regional planning. The Fellowships are to be used by the recipients toward defraying the expenses of advanced study in America or abroad.

NEWH:  The Hospitality Industry Network

Entry deadline:  October 27, 2008

Scholarship for students who have a career objective in one of the areas of the Hospitality industry (i.e., hotel/restaurant, management, culinary/foodservice, architecture, interior design, etc.)

NACCED (National Association for County Community and Economic Development) Annual John C. Murphy Scholarship Grant Award Program Entry deadline:  August 1, 2008.  This annual $2,000 scholarship is for undergraduate or graduate students with a chosen field of study that includes course work in the areas of affordable housing and/or community and economic development. 

Footwear Design Scholarships These scholarship opportunities are open to any student who is studying design with a focus on footwear. Awards are based on financial need and design potential. Scholarships have ranged from $1000 up to $5000 per year.

Multicultural Scholarship Resources and Opportunities The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) at the University of Minnesota offers scholarship assistance and support to students.  They also offer a Scholarship Resource Room (Klaeber Court room 115) to help students search for outside scholarships. 

Carol E. Macpherson Memorial Scholarship & Alumnae Society Scholarship

Entry deadline: Wednesday April 30, 2008 at 4:30 p.m.

Scholarship for women returning to school after a minimum five year break. See scholarship details at the Office for University Women for additional information.

NEWH:  The Hospitality Industry Network

Entry deadline:  February 11, 2008

Talbot Women's Scholarship Fund

Entry deadline: January 2, 2008

A scholarship fund for women who earned their high school diploma or G.E.D. at least 10 years ago and are now seeking an undergraduate degree.

Minnesota Association of Housing Code Officials (MAHCO) Scholarship

Applications due:  November 1, 2007

(MAHCO) is a non-profit professional organization serving the needs of Minnesota Housing Inspectors throughout the State.

NEWH The Hospitality Industry Network Scholarship

Application deadline:  October 26, 2007

NEWT is a non-profit organization dedicated to the Hospitality Industry and promotes the education of eligible students aspiring to enter the Hospitality, Food service, Senior Living and related industries. 

 

Spring 2008 Gilman International Scholarship

Entry deadline: October 9, 2007

Awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a 2-year or 4-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
